Administrator's MessageLocated at the gateway between Los Angeles and the San Gabriel Valley, where different cultures and traditions meet, Alhambra Hospital Medical Center's mission is to cater to the needs of patients from diverse ethnic groups, including mainstream, Asian and Hispanic communities. AHMC staff communicate in multiple languages, and are trained to be sensitive and respectful of our patients' physical, emotional, spiritual and cultural needs. Our patient menus, our signage, and even our meditation garden, are specifically designed to respect our multicultural clientele.
Alhambra Hospital Medical Center is a general acute care hospital with 144 patient beds. Our medium size allows a close working relationship between our employees and our physicians, which facilitates intimate, personalized and safe patient care. At the same time, our hospital is large enough to provide a full array of services, from Emergency and Critical Care, to Acute Rehabilitation and long-term care in our Subacute Unit.
As a community hospital, we are always challenging ourselves to ascend to the next level. Our vision statement expressly states our desire to become one of the leading hospitals in the San Gabriel Valley by providing integrated and affordable care to our patients. Our team works very hard to ensure that we stay on the right path and we are extremely proud of our accomplishments in the recent years.
Among them are:
Alhambra Hospital Medical Center is extremely proud to announce that they are among one of only 39 hospitals in California and one of 455 hospitals nationwide to be rated 5 stars by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in its recent update of the Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings on the Hospital Compare website on April 28, 2021. This is the highest rating possible for hospital and it represents excellence in 5 measure groups in mortality, safety of care, readmission, patient experience and timely and effective care.
CMS rated over 4,500 hospitals from 1 to 5 stars, with five representing the highest quality rating. Of 4,586 hospitals, 13.5%, or 455 hospitals, received 5 stars; 988 received 4 stars; 1,018 received 3 stars; 690 received 2 stars and 204 received one star. For more than a quarter of hospitals, 1,181, no information was available.
Alhambra Hospital Medical Center Subacute Unit has once again been awarded a 5 STAR rating by CMS, which is the highest rating for nursing homes and long term care facilities.
Nursing Home Compare provides quality ratings to each of the nation's 15,000 Medicare and/or Medicaid-certified nursing and long term care facilities. Each is rated from a low (1 Star) to the highest (5 Stars) based on three critical areas: health inspection results, quality measures and staffing levels.
Alhambra Hospital Medical Center has been rated an "A" in Patient Safety for the 6th time in a row from the Leapfrog Group's Hospital Safety Grade since the Fall of 2018. Our circle of care continues to strive to achieve the highest ratings in patient safety to keep our community and patients safe.
The designation recognizes Alhambra Hospital Medical Center's efforts in protecting patients from harm and meeting the highest safety standards in the United States. The Leapfrog Group is a national organization committed to improving health care quality and safety for consumers and purchasers. The Safety Grade assigns an A, B, C, D or F grade to hospitals across the country based on their performance in preventing medical errors, infections and other harms among patients in their care.
For the second time in a row, the California Health and Human Services Agency Secretary Dr. Mark Ghaly, along with Cal Hospital Compare, released the 2020 honor rolls in recognition of hospitals across California for their high performance in maternity care, patient safety, and commitment to safe opioid care.
The 2020 Patient Safety Honor Roll recognized 73 adult, acute care hospitals with high safety profiles in comparison to other hospitals. Once again, Alhambra Hospital Medical Center is proud to be one of the 73 hospitals that being recognized by the California Health and Human Services Agency. According to Dr. Ghaly, this Honor Roll offers Californians a rigorously evaluated list of hospitals that have consistently demonstrated a strong culture of safety across multiple departments and offers hospitals yet another valuable tool to evaluate and celebrate their own performance in comparison to others.
The Patient Safety Honor Roll uses two approaches 1) an algorithmic method based on individual hospital performance across 12 patient safety measures and 2) Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades. For more information, please visit: http://calhospitalcompare.org/programs/
